We are headed down to the famed San Diego Zoo, this week. Our family has not visited this wonder in far too long, and we are all a bit excited to begin the adventure. I can still remember the anticipation of my childhood visits to this grand collection.
The San Diego Zoo, is world famous for it's collection of species, and for the great care they are given. Like many American zoos, The San Diego Zoo offers a large web site, filled with information on a day's visit or just some fun from your own computer.
The San Diego Zoo Kid's site offers crafts, downloads and so much more, to occupy your kidling for a moment or two. This is a great site to add to your favorites for some rainy day fun.
While running through the website, one topic caught my eye, "zoo adoptions". Okay, that sounds a bit scary, ....(bring a rhino to dinner?), so naturally, I click it ....Here you can donate funds to buy the animals new toys or even a new den to call home. This would be a great cause for an elementary class ....Buy the polar bears some toys! Kids would so love that ..... I Love it!
There are web cams online, so that you may see the animals at play and rest, an option to send free electronic postcards, and a series of blogs for children and adults that offer insight and education. You simply cannot ask for more.
If you live too far to visit our world famous zoo, click over The San Diego Zoo, and recall how great it was to visit the zoo, when you were a kid ....it can be again....enjoy!
