When I am blue I search for whimsy. I can find it most anywhere. I will volunteer to take your kids to the park for a picnic. I may grab your dog and run him for you ....I may even hit the carousel at the kiddie park for a bit with a toddler or two in tow. But when I am in search of retail whimsy ....I hit Betsey Johnson's site for a bit of fun.
No one knows fun better than Betsey! Her use of color and frill is surpassed by no other. Betsey is a true original and her site offers everything from dresses to bags to jewelry.
I met Ms. Johnson when I was in grade school. She was designing for a pattern company. With my sweet mom in tow, I gathered all the courage of my eight years to tell her how much I liked her drawings. My mom could not sew a seam, but I would pour over pattern books when given the chance just to admire the illustrations and Betsey's were the best.
Betsey Johnson is a true survivor. She is an icon. Her style and design has delighted generations of women.
While not everything may fit your lifestyle or your budget, you have to take a moment and admire the fun of it all. Sheer fun.
Today's jaunt found the cutest raspberry summer dresses, cheery cherry embellishments and a purse that looked like a phone. Now, I understand that you may not need a phone purse when running through the "Piggly-Wiggly" but why not? Why not have a little whimsy in your life?
