Do you ever find it funny, how certain sights and smells can transport you back in time? Within seconds you are four again and standing in your grandma's kitchen covered with flour and making cookies. Flash again and you are fourteen, shyly kissing the first real love of your life.
I love the power a wonderful book or movie has over our thoughts and recollections. I have a rush of being four whenever I recall the movie, To Kill A Mockingbird. I recall my family watching the movie on television. Black and white and filled with a court scene, it all looked very boring to me, but for the fact that a little girl kept going in and out of scenes. A little girl not much older than me was in the movie, and suddenly, I was riveted. I didn't understand the poetry of the movie, or the wonder of watching Gregory Peck, but I understood a little girl. I will always love To Kill A Mockingbird.
The love of the film moved me to the book some years later. One of my favorites, I read it often.
Classic movies are often hard to find for your home collection. Big box stores usually only stock the new releases. I love that fact that Barnes & Noble offer a nice selection of classic titles on DVD, and now they are on sale for 40% off. Love it!
