Chrissi B! holding fast to summer fun ...

Welcome August! Well, there is no turning back. It is our last chance to grab a bit summer. In some areas, schools are starting within moments, (I hear the sound of happy parents sighing with relief). Imagine, starting school just as summer became familiar and comfortable. Not fair.

I simply cannot jump at the idea of trying on wools and suede today. I cannot ease myself into another pair of tights or stockings. I refuse to think about the holidays with anticipation. Let me enjoy this one last bit of summer. Please, please indulge me!

If August finds you too, with a few days yet to fill, I have gathered some great sites to play and enjoy a bit of adventure before Autumn hits your calendar.

The 2008 Olympics start within days. You can use this time to slyly educate your kidlings on China, The Olympics or even, specific sporting events. The official Olympic site, offers a "fun page" of free character downloads, games and information. All family friendly.

A visit to the website of the US Olympic team, will provide you with an update of qualifying athletes, as well as information about each contestant and their sport. GO TEAM!

One click to the official broadcaster of the Olympics, NBC will give you a chance to play free online games , track events and see scheduling.

Hit the book shop at Barnes & Noble and one may order this amazing photo book on China, at under ten dollars and jammed full of photos, this may be a good choice to educate us all on the beauty of "The Sleeping Giant". Other choices include a title on Olympic Dreams, China and Sports, 1895-2008.

Now, may be the time to have your own backyard or inhouse Olympic events ...consider visiting the Scholastic web site, where they provide easy step by step instructions to set up your own Olympic competitions. Make ribbons, awards, and celebrate. Love it!

Personally, I am not really into the games this year in China. Fondly, I remember watching young girls my age, on the balance beam with excitement. I recall going to the Olympic Volley Ball games and I am again a kid. Happily, I become excited for the athletes. I appreciate the journey and the reward. I again, become interested. Perhaps we each need to "get interested" and embrace the moment. Find a bit of summer ....enjoy.
