Chrissi B! reading our way through summer ...

I adore a summer read, do you? Lately, the books I choose fit into two categories. "Fun" and "Real". The fun books of summer, offer whimsical titles and are meant purely for entertainment. These are the reads that you reach for when leaving for a doctor's appointment. These are the books you tote and carry. These are the beach reads and the car reads. These are the books that will carry you through summer with a smile.

A fun read for me, talks about shopping. Shoes. Clothes. Travel. When I am searching for a fun read, I find that no one does this type of read better than Sophie Kinsella. My lovely friend Hailey, led me into the Shopaholic series a few years ago. Thus began the love of all things Sophie. Her writing is addictive. Nothing serious here, just play time.
The Shopaholic Series, The Undomestic Goddess, Remember Me ...Just a few of Ms. Kinsella's best offerings. Each are a treat, each offer summer reading fun. With a movie soon to launch, the Shopaholic Series will only grow. Once a fan of Sophie's? Check out her offerings of free screen savers ...too much whimsy for just one computer!
My "real" read at the moment is Three Cups of Tea: One Man's Mission to Promote Peace . . . One School at a Time by Greg Mortenson, David Oliver Relin. Inspired by his time spent in a small Pakastani village, a modern day adventurer returns to build schools. Offered at Barnes and Noble, I find this choice one that inspires both service and gratefulness. A nice read to offer your teen daughter.
As you stroll through Target this week, or run through the mall ...Walk into that book department, pick up a fun read and a real read. Better yet, hit the library, find an offering or two, just to help you get through your summer...enjoy!
